100+ Brickfilmers are recreating The LEGO Movie scene by scene

10 years after the original feature film, over 100 brickfilm makers are teaming up to re-animate The LEGO Movie frame by frame until it's fully rebuilt.

Animators Brickfilm Day and Bricks in Motion are teaming up to organise a reanimation of The LEGO Movie, one decade after its release. As with many other animated movies, this project will be inviting community members to animate specific sequences of the movie, voice characters and more. Then, the results will be combined to recreate the film in several unique styles.

With The LEGO Movie Rebuilt, the project is calling on Brickfilmers, animators, voice actors and musicians to help with the project by filling in a form. Over 120 animators have been confirmed to be on board so far, but the team are going to need more help to get this passion project done.

Similar to other reanimated movie projects, The LEGO Movie Rebuilt welcomes interpretive recreation of scenes, seemingly focusing on different kinds and styles of LEGO stop motion animation.

It's an impressive project and one that we look forward to seeing the final results of in due course. Coming later this year is the next official LEGO movie and it's likely not what you were expecting. It has also been announced that you could play a part in the future of LEGO movies by animating something else.
