2025 LEGO WALL-E is both bigger and smaller than 2015 build

A new LEGO WALL-E set has been revealed 10 years after the original Ideas model, and it somehow manages to be both bigger and smaller.

The newly-revealed 43279 WALL-E and EVE returns to the animated future film exactly 10 years after LEGO Ideas 21303 WALL-E, based on a project which was designed by Angus MacLane, who was an animator and director at Pixar Animation Studios at the time.

After 10 years of evolution in LEGO building techniques and parts, the new 2025 set manages to be both smaller and bigger than the original build in multiple ways.

43279 WALL-E and EVE is bigger and consequently more expensive than the long-retired LEGO Ideas set, featuring nearly 150 more elements, but also depicting EVE and M-O as well as the titular robot. The base WALL-E build in the 2015 LEGO Ideas set is 18cm high, 16cm long and 16cm wide, whereas the 2025 WALL-E is 13cm high and 12cm wide.

The new 2025 LEGO WALL-E may be smaller, but it has more detail thanks to additional decorated elements. The smaller size also means that two other robot characters have been included in the set due to additional pieces being allocated for them.

The 2015 set has a bigger WALL-E build, but a smaller piece count, and that's not the only way in which the 2015 build is smaller than that of the 2025 model. Despite a higher piece count just for one robot character, LEGO Ideas 21303 WALL-E features two other builds that are notably smaller than they appear a decade later.

Hal the cockroach appears in both LEGO WALL-E models, using two pieces in 2015. This has been more than doubled for the 2025 set, where Hall appears with slightly more detail and longer antennae. The plant in the boot has similarly had a makeover, and it's now much larger in 43279 WALL-E and EVE.

43279 WALL-E and EVE improves on the original LEGO Ideas build without overshadowing it by downsizing the character, but introducing several upgrades and additional features. It can be yours starting from September 1 for £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 and pre-orders are open right now.
