There’s another LEGO Sonic BrickHeadz character we want to see

With today’s official reveal of two LEGO Sonic BrickHeadz sets, there’s another video game character we want to see as part of the theme.

The LEGO Group today officially revealed two new BrickHeadz statues launching on September 1 in the shape of 40627 Sonic the Hedgehog and 40628 Miles “Tails” Prower. The models recreate the two SEGA video game icons in blocky form, adding to the theme’s continuing line-up of pop culture faces.

40627 Sonic the Hedgehog includes 139 pieces and will be priced at £9.99 / $9.99 / €9.99, while 40628 Miles “Tails” Prower comes in at 131 pieces also for £9.99 / $9.99 / €9.99. Numbered respectively as the 213th and 214th BrickHeadz additions to the range, the characters seem like obvious additions to the ongoing theme and could potentially hint at more to come.

In fact, with a full range of LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets launching on August 1, it’s not hard to imagine BrickHeadz versions of Amy Rose or Knuckles the Echidna joining their anthropomorphic friends as desktop buddies in the future.

However, with the spotlight of attention on Sonic and his pals at the moment, we’d be remiss (and potentially in big trouble) for not suggesting that any possible 215th BrickHeadz should probably be Dr. Eggman himself. The character would certainly fit the blocky look of the theme and the vile villain has been popping up in a number of places recently, such as a LEGO Ideas challenge, in his own rap video and even causing trouble at LEGO HQ in Billund, of all places.

Of course, that’s just pure speculation on our part for now, but we’re still keeping our fingers crossed that the moustachioed menace does indeed join the LEGO BrickHeadz theme at some point.

40627 Sonic the Hedgehog and 40628 Miles “Tails” Prower will be both be available for purchase from September 1 online and in-stores.
