Bluey puts LEGO Ideas under the microscope – again

LEGO Bluey is officially confirmed, yet its announcement pulls a problem with LEGO Ideas into sharp focus – and not for the first time.

The LEGO Group has officially announced six sets based on hit kids TV show Bluey are on the way and if you're thinking this idea sounds familiar, you'd be right. The show and its characters have been put forward as LEGO Ideas projects by 17-year-old fan designer Jared, who goes by Monkey Scout on the platform, and gained 10,000 supporters no less than three times.

However, it doesn't appear to be Jared's idea that's moving forward into production, although without images of the upcoming sets it's hard to say what inspirations may or may not have been taken. This isn't the first time that a fan-designed project has seemingly influenced future LEGO sets, without any credit going to the fan designer. A recent example occurred with LEGO Disney 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage, leaving the fan designer, Harry Finkel, feeling 'let down' by the LEGO Group.
