71048 Series 27 is nearly here with 12 new minifigures to collect, display and mix into your LEGO collection. Here's what the Brick Fanatics team will be looking out for when 71048 Series 27 launches next week, in order of preference ascending.
6 – Plush Toy Collector
Whether for the pair of plush pieces or that stylish plus onesie, the Plush Toy Collector minifigure may not be the most popular minifigure within the Brick Fanatics Team, but it has earned a spot at the bottom of the list.
This equal parts adorable and collectable minifigure not only forms parts of 71048 Series 27 but is kickstarting a collection of LEGO plush toys. Much like there are many older LEGO enthusiasts, this minifigure represents older plush collectors too, with this minifigure using longer legs to depict an adult instead of a child as would usually be the case in minifigures. That makes them unlike any other minifigure we've seen before.
5 – Steampunk Inventor
The LEGO Group has surprisingly not embraced Steampunk, despite the potential of the science fiction subgenre. Thankfully that all changes with 71048 Series 27's Steampunk Inventor, with a suitably fancy outfit and golden machinery adorning his body.
Whether this is the start of something more for LEGO Steampunk or the only representation of the subgenre in the portfolio, the Steampunk Inventor is a desirable minifigure for the novelty alone. The array of prints and parts will be useful for an artificer minifigure to pair with
4 – Pirate Quartermaster
LEGO Pirates has been well and truly back for a few years, with a new addition from the BrickLink Designer Program (at least) on the horizon. Still, it's always exciting to see new minifigures that align with the classic theme, including 71048 Series 27's Pirate Quartermaster.
Equipped with a cutlass and cockatoo, the Pirate Quartermaster has a great level of detail for a LEGO minifigure with a new bird that is sure to be a popular pick with animal lovers. Whether you're looking to pick her up for parts or add to a LEGO crew, the Pirate Quartermaster is one not to miss from 71048 Series 27.
3 – Jetpack Racer
71048 Series 27's Jetpack Racer invokes a futuristic, almost cyberpunk aesthetic with a stylish dual-moulded helmet and branding across the racing suit similar to a race car but distinctly minifigure-shaped instead. That helmet is arguably the best of the minifigure and appears to have been taken from LEGO VIDIYO.
The wrap-around printing on the legs paired with the colour scheme of the outfit makes this one of the memorable minifigures in 71048 Series 27, exploring a side of the future not often seen in LEGO – how sports and other activities have adapted and evolved.
2 – Wolfpack Beastmaster
LEGO Castle's various factions have earned a near-permanent spot across LEGO Collectible Minifigures, consistently appearing series after series. With that in mind, 71048 Series 27's Wolfpack Beastmaster does something no other LEGO Castle Collectible Minifigures entry has managed to.
The new Wolfpack Beastmaster greatly expands on the Wolfpack faction with the titular animal and a minifigure to tame them. This follows the falconer minifigure in Series 24, offering something new for both the faction, LEGO Castle and minifigures as a whole. This minifigure is sure to be a popular pick in 71048 Series 27 for nostalgia and that new wolf element.
1 – Bogeyman
The Bogeyman tops the list as the Brick Fanatics team's favourite minifigure in 71047 Series 27, beating the competition with their terrifying, yet playful expression. It's surprising to see it come out on top compared to a few of the other 11 minifigures, but this minifigure has caught the eye of the Brick Fanatics team.
