Comparing the first officially released LEGO Fortnite minifigure

The first LEGO Fortnite minifigure has been officially released into the wild, allowing for a direct comparison with its in-game counterpart. 

The LEGO Fortnite sets, including 77073 Battle Bus and its nine Fortnite minifigures, don’t release for over one month. Despite this, the LEGO Group had a treat for those in attendance at Gamescom. Gamescom attendees could pick up a flyer from the LEGO Store in Cologne that would then be exchanged for a LEGO Fortnite Cuddle Team Leader minifigure at the convention. 

As reported earlier today, Promobricks did just that and gave us our first look at one of the nine minifigures in 77073 Battle Bus. Cuddle Team Leader’s minifigure is a close match to its LEGO Style in Fortnite, but it’s not the same. 

The most notable difference between the two is the presence of more printing on the digital minifigure. The physical Cuddle Team Leader minifigure has no printing on the side of its arms and legs as well as for the buttons on the back of its head. 

The LEGO Style has printing in all three places, but its existence as a digital character certainly makes this a lot more feasible. That said, some of the other minifigures in 77073 Battle Bus do have printing on the sides of their arms and legs. 

Otherwise, the Cuddle Team Leader minifigure’s design is a close match to the in-game LEGO Style. The Fortnite outfit features a flesh-coloured head underneath the mask though whereas the physical minifigure opts for a white head. 

According to official images of 77073 Battle Bus, the minifigure in the upcoming LEGO Fortnite set will have a matching flesh-coloured head instead of a white variant. This might mean that some further printing for their face is being hidden for now, or it could be an error in the official imagery. 

We’ll have to see what the minifigure in 77073 Battle Bus looks like to say for certain. It looks as if the early LEGO Fortnite minifigure release from Gamescom isn’t as much of a first look as we expected it to be. The four LEGO Fortnite sets are to be released on October 1, 2024, including minifigures in 77073 Battle Bus.
