New skins in Sonic Superstars might have given us our first look at a long-awaited minifigure version of Knuckles.
The red companion to his blue best friend, Sonic, Knuckles is a fan-favourite character from Sonic – but he hasn't yet appeared as a minifigure. He would certainly be an interesting design challenge, with his spiked knuckles and slicked-back head spikes.
While we have heard rumours via brickmerge.de that LEGO Sonic will continue into 2024, details of the sets are low on the ground. Indeed, aside from the set numbers and prices, there's virtually nothing to go on. That means that, although we don't know if Knuckles will appear, we also don't know that he won't.
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 saw the premiere of Sonic Superstars’ latest trailer, complete with new LEGO-style skins for Knuckles. We've already seen a digital, brick-built Knuckles in LEGO Dimensions but the new Sonic Superstars skin brings new features, including unique fist pieces and dual-moulded legs.

Whether this design means that the LEGO Group has already planned and designed a real-life minifigure for Knuckles remains to be seen. However, he does appear to be the next logical choice for a LEGO Sonic minifigure, particularly as Nintendo launched a spin-off storyline for the red hedgehog this year.
However, he would also need a few custom pieces to distinguish himself from Sonic, aside from recolouring. His spikes are slicked back to cover his ears, giving him a more intimidating appearance and his shoes are yellow and red, as opposed to Sonic and Tails' red and white. His spiked fists are likely the trickiest to achieve but also absolutely essential. After all, they did give him his name.
We'll have to wait and see what LEGO future Knuckles has, and take all rumoured information related to LEGO Sonic with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group. We do know for sure that Sonic Superstars will be available to play on October 17, 2023, with a LEGO expansion pack confirmed for the game and a Dr Eggman skin that you can get by pre-ordering the title.
