Experience that thrill of getting your very first LEGO set all over again, by spending the day with one new builder on TikTok.
While we'd imagine that every Brick Fanatics reader has at least one (or dozen) LEGO sets in their collection, there are more and more people trying out LEGO building all the time. What's more, one of the fastest-growing areas in the toy industry has been classed as the adult market, with the LEGO Group's dedicated 'For Adults' sets rising to over 130 now.
As such, it's not surprising that we're seeing more and more adults dip their toes into the world of bricks, just like Serena Neel (@serenaneel on TikTok) did while documenting her experience in a video.
"I have never built LEGO in my life," she tells a LEGO Store employee, resulting in them promptly taking her towards smaller sets than the original suggestion of 21330 Home Alone.
While Serena is momentarily distracted by 75192 Millennium Falcon, 71043 Hogwarts Castle, and 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters' Cottage, she ultimately deliberates between various LEGO BrickHeadz, before settling on 43202 The Madrigal House. She took it home, put on the inspiration film, and got to building.
"It's so cute," Serena concluded. "Which one should I make next?"
Clearly, the LEGO bug has bitten. It just goes to show that the wide variety of LEGO sets on offer and the LEGO Group's self-described push to reach an adult audience as well as younger builders are paying off. While larger, more expensive sets like the ones initially suggested to Serena, like 21330 Home Alone or 71043 Hogwarts Castle that caught her eye, might be the ones typically associated with adult builders, that's not to say that sets like LEGO Disney 43202 The Madrigal House won't still appeal.
With more and more franchises being replicated in LEGO sets, you can imagine that fans of LEGO will only keep increasing, as more people find their favourite films and TV shows miniaturised as LEGO sets. For long-term LEGO builders, however, we can only relive that original excitement through others, such as by watching Serena's TikTok in full via the embedded video below.
