Where LEGO Art has steadily built up LEGO versions of iconic artworks, a LEGO Ideas fan designer has now turned their hand to rendering a photo.
American photographer Charles C. Ebbets' Lunch atop a Skyscraper is an iconic photography, taken in 1932 during the construction of a building in New York and depicting 11 men who are having lunch on a steel beam at a height of 260 meters. Ebbets was only recognised for his photo in 2003, but one LEGO Ideas fan designer wants to pay homage to the well-known photography.
DallasBricks' Lunch Atop a Skyscraper recreates the photo in a brick-built frame, creating LEGO buildings for the backdrop and arranging 11 minifigures – all in greyscale to match the look of the photo – perched along the 'steel' beam. The same perspective from the photo is captured, perfect to hang on the wall besides LEGO Art sets.
Lunch Atop a Skyscraper becomes the 38th LEGO Ideas project to head into the second 2025 review, with its fate now in the hands of the LEGO Ideas team. Remind yourself of the competition in the table down below.
