First look at LEGO Bricklink Designer Program Series 1 Old Train Engine Shed

Following reviews for a pair of LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 sets, a look at the Old Train Engine Shed has revealed what fits inside.

Pre-orders for the five LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 sets are opening soon, on February 7, and the range includes Mind_the_Brick's Old Train Engine Shed. Ahead of the big day, various early reviews have surfaced online for the biggest three of the five sets. Some surfaced earlier than others and now we can take a much closer look at the train-centric model.

A new review by RacingBrick reveals that the clearance of the door and space inside the shed is more than enough for the engine of 21344 The Orient Express Train to fit for any repairs and the engine and tender of the Hogwarts Express from 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station fits too. This should mean that most LEGO trains will be able to slot inside.

The raised nature of the track in the Old Train Engine Shed may present a challenge for LEGO train enthusiasts as a ramp may be needed to bring your trains to the right level. Without any modifications though, it's the perfect height to be compatible with the display stand in 21344 The Orient Express Train. Those with an extra-long shelf could make an especially interesting display by combining the two without needing to integrate them into a bigger LEGO railway.

The various details in the Old Train Engine Shed include growing foliage, working tools and equipment and a modified back room that has been converted from a toilet as it was in the original LEGO Ideas project to an office.

"Is it worth €220 or $230?" questions RacingBrick. "At 2,331 pieces, it's a pretty big set but when I compare it to the LEGO modular buildings for example, you get more pieces there for a similar price.

"But this is not a LEGO product – it's a unique build that the LEGO Group wouldn't release normally. It is more like a MOC, a custom build, that you can buy all of the pieces for in one package from a single source.

"I really like the end result. The building experience is nice and balanced and all the details, the functions, the representations of the tools and other mechanical things are great. I'm not a diorama guy but this realisation is perhaps the closest to my taste in that area so I think it's worth the price."
