Now the dust from January 1 has settled, here's a look at how people's minifigure scanning for LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71048 Series 27 went.
71048 Series 27 officially launched on January 1, alongside dozens of other LEGO sets, and minifigure collectors were able to scan their way to the characters they wanted – or avoid those they didn't. Heading down to a physical LEGO store on the first of the month is a rite of passage for many LEGO fans, either to hunt for minifigures or choose from the wealth of new sets in person.
According to data from Brick Search, there were 615,532 scans on January 1. While that's probably several scans per person, that's still hundreds of thousands of people most likely – and that's not even the highest that week.
January 2 was the real peak, perhaps when people had recovered from New Year's Eve celebrations or when more LEGO stores opened, ushering in a whopping 2,540,548 scans. At least a few of them were Brick Fanatics' own Chris and Matthew on their own minifigure scanning adventure. While January 2 was the peak, it was followed by some similarly scan-heavy days, with 2,201,670 on January 3 and 2,462,976 on January 4, the first weekend after 71048 Series 27's release.
The numbers fell slightly on January 5 to 1,297,458, remaining steady throughout the rest of the week with 1,286,400 on January 6, 1,500,594 on January 7, and 1,732,840 on January 8. That came to an overall total of 13,738,018 scans on Brick Search between January 1 and 8.

With 80,526 users on the app during that same period, that works out at 1,717,252 minifigures scanned a day, and 11,503 users scanning 149 minifigure boxes each, on average.
