Five things we’ve spotted in LEGO Star Wars 75355 X-wing Starfighter

The upcoming LEGO Star Wars 75355 X-wing Starfighter is packed with plenty of details and we’re shining a spotlight on five of them.

With today’s reveal of 75355 X-wing Starfighter fans only have to wait a little short of a month in order to pick up the next LEGO Star Wars UCS set. Lucky VIP members will be able to grab the 1,949-piece build on May 1, while everyone else gets their shot on May 4. The third UCS version of Luke’s iconic ship will be priced at £209.99 / $239.99 / €239.99 and measures 55cm long, 27cm tall and 44cm wide.

As the largest and most detailed iteration of the craft to date, the increased size of the build has allowed the LEGO Star Wars design team to pack in all sorts of details that are just waiting to be discovered. With that in mind, here are five that really standout to us:

5 – Lock S-foils in attack position

75355 X-wing Starfighter isn’t just an impressive display piece – the set also has some basic functionality. By turning the dial on top of the ship, it’s possible to adjust the wings, opening and closing them to simulate flight and attack modes.

4 – Red Five standing by

The LEGO Star Wars design team has obviously taken great pains to ensure the set stays true to the big screen version of Luke’s T-65 starfighter. The UCS model features an accurate colour scheme and even includes the recognisable four blue stripes on one upper and one lower laser cannon.

3 – New-for-2023 Rebel pilot uniform

It would certainly be a surprise if 75355 X-wing Starfighter didn’t include a Luke Skywalker minifigure. What is being delivered though is the most authentic and detailed version of the character’s iconic Rebel pilot outfit to date, complete with new arm printing and dual-moulded legs.

2 – Minimal stickers

While it’s a little tricky to tell at this stage, it looks as if the UCS set will only feature a handful of stickers with which to decorate the model. Some areas of the cockpit appear to utilise stickers for the interior, while the exterior windshield seems to be a printed element.

1 – A sense of scale

At this stage we only have one minor niggle regarding 75355 X-wing Starfighter and it relates to the droid socket area. While the included R2-D2 can be slotted in to the space located there, a printed dome piece would seem to have been more to scale for the display model.
