A brick-built replica of an iconic British train could become a LEGO Ideas set after a fan-made design gained 10,000 supporters.
This marks the first LEGO Ideas submission from 15-year-old designer LOCOBUILDERBEAR1 to make it past 10,000 supporters, after creating various intricate train-based designs. The Flying Scotsman is an express passenger train service that connects the capital cities of Edinburgh and London via the East Coast Main Line. The service first ran all the way back in 1862 as the Special Scotch Express until it was officially adopted as the Flying Scotsman in 1924.
The submitted design includes the green train and four brown-plated carriages, as well as eight minifigures to populate the train, such as a driver, guard, chef, waiter, and four passengers.
"I really relish the challenge of building realistic, authentic and detailed Steam Locomotives that actually run on LEGO track and particularly curves and points," wrote LOCOBUILDERBEAR1. "Ultimately I would like to create a collection of iconic locomotives in celebration of steam heritage."
Flying Scotsman - LNER Class A3 4472 4-6-2 Pacific Steam Locomotive is the 27th submission to make it past 10,000 supporters in the second LEGO Ideas review of this year. Here's a reminder of all the other sets that will go forward to be considered to become an official LEGO Ideas set.
