Four LEGO gift ideas that think outside of the brick

Four LEGO gift ideas that think outside of the brick

Buying for a LEGO fan doesn't always need to mean LEGO sets. Here are a few ideas for the perfect Christmas gift, no bricks involved.

Not everyone has the space for an ever-growing LEGO collection but you still want to get a LEGO lover something they'll love this Christmas. That's why we've rounded up some gift ideas that think outside of the box. It doesn't need to be a LEGO set to put a smile on their face, so read on to browse our list of suggestions below.

LEGO storage

There are plenty of options when it comes to storing your LEGO bricks. For people who build custom mods, buy their bricks in bulk, or have just stored up a mighty collection of individual elements over the years, having a handy place to store your bricks is an absolute must to avoid getting overwhelmed – and avoid treading on any stray pieces for the worst pain in the world.

The LEGO Group offers some storage options of its own, like oversized bricks that open up like 5006916 8-Stud Storage Brick – Yellow, or minifigure heads that double as storage boxes like 5006955 Storage Head – Large, Silly.

Other more subtle and space-saving options can be found on Amazon, like playmats that also can be easily scooped up and stored away, available in both the UK and the US. These are especially useful for those with young LEGO fans, as it makes for speedy tidy-ups.

You can also find any number of different space-saving storage boxes, from transparent drawers that allow you to see what you have, to stackable crates with plates on the top so you can build as you go. There are even storage-focused tables, so you can tidy away extra pieces while you're working on a build.

LEGO cleaning hacks

For those with sprawling collections, staying on top of cleaning is a chore that shouldn't be underestimated. Thankfully, there are some nifty ways to speed it up, like using compressed air (very carefully and from far away) which you can pick up in sets like this ones in both the UK and the US, or using a delicate camera lens brush, which is perfect for smaller or more delicate sets, also available in the UK and the US.

LEGO accessories

A love of LEGO isn't just about the sets themselves but can also be carried into all walks of life. LEGO notepads for school or work, LEGO clothing 5009132 Christmas Sweatshirt, or one of the dozens of LEGO keychains that the LEGO Group has in stock on its online store. The final day for shipping in the UK is December 20, so there's not long left to place an order in time for the big day if you want to treat somebody to some LEGO-adjacent merch.

LEGO display cases

If there's one LEGO set that your friend or relative treasures above anything else, a great way to treat them this Christmas is with a display case or stand from Wicked Brick that shows it off at its best. For ships from LEGO Star Wars or Marvel, the display stands can securely display builds at dynamic angles, as shown in the example for 75192 Millennium Falcon above.

Otherwise, transparent cases do a lot to protect LEGO sets from dust and sunlight, as well as offering the option for an appropriate backdrop, as you can see above for 71043 Hogwarts Castle.
