While Hideo Kojima is typically known for buying larger LEGO builds, his latest might be his smallest set yet – and could be part of his next secret project...
In the past, video game legend and Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has been known to build some titans of the LEGO system, ranging from LEGO Star Wars UCS sets like 75331 The Razor Crest and 75313 AT-AT to other builds tied to gaming and pop culture inspiration, like 21350 Jaws, 10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter, and 10323 PAC-MAN Arcade. Indeed, he's built so much that it's started to form a backlog. Now, he's gone for something a lot smaller.
Taking to X, Kojima wrote: "Stopped by the LEGO store and saw Cedric Diggory’s BRICK HEADZ, so I purchased it."
40617 Draco Malfoy & Cedric Diggory is technically retired, but sometimes stock can still appear in physical stores even months after retirement. While this might seem like a pretty random purchase, it could be tied to recent rumours swirling that Kojima and Robert Pattinson (who plays Cedric Diggory) could be working together on an upcoming project.
Speaking to press at the Cannes Film Festival, Kojima reportedly said that Pattinson is a good person and that they talked about things that he is not able to share yet. If that doesn't sound like a secret project, we don't know what does.
Projects can come and go, so there's no guarantee that whatever they talked about will come to fruition, but it could have sparked his interest in buying 40617 Draco Malfoy & Cedric Diggory – as driven home by his focus on Cedric Diggory, with no mention of Malfoy, and including a picture of Pattison as Diggory in the post.
