LEGO Icons 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger is coming, and modular building fans will be glad to know the set is compatible with a bit of effort.
The latest LEGO The Simpsons set has been unveiled ahead of its launch next month in the form of 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger, bringing one of the many fast food chains' restaurants to life with new minifigures and pieces. 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger has landed in the hands of some fans early, including here at Brick Fanatics and alongside advance reviews, one enthusiast has decided to quickly add Krusty Burger to his LEGO city display.
Bricksie has showcased how he has taken the official set and adapted it for a city display, adding a bit of Springfield to his custom world. He's made only minor modifications to the foundations of the building and the sign and added pavement and roads for the drive-thru, otherwise leaving the official set untouched.
Bricksie's efforts to adapt the new 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger to his massive display are impressive, but ultimately the modifications are specialised to his colossal LEGO city. It still serves as proof that 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger can be adapted to fit into all kinds of displays.
By raising the base of the building by at least one plate and adding some road plates, the new LEGO Krusty Burger doesn't need too much extra to make it city and even modular buiilding-compatible The main building can be easily contained to a baseplate, with room at the back for cars to navigate around in the drive-thru.
Using the half-road plates in the same system of 60304 Road Plates around the edge of the build would expand its footprint to just shy of one and a half baseplates wide, with a smaller road around the back to measure one baseplate deep. Alternatively, expanding the footprint to one and a half baseplates deep, as well, allows enough space for a substantial pavement to match the rest of the modular buildings.
Bricksie's video is proof that with some additional pieces and effort, 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger can fit into a city display, and while its footprint is small in comparison to the other The Simpsons sets, it's seemingly designed to be a perfect fit for a baseplate.
Whether this was intentional by the designers or not, it's likely to come as welcome news to some in the LEGO community, leaving the question of where it will best fit in your world. Putting it next to 76269 Avengers Tower might not be the best place, for example, with the wildly different heights they reach. Finding a spot for it aside a modular building with an open side, such as 10350 Tudor Corner, should help its height look more favourable.
Whatever you decide, it's clear that 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger can be adapted for all kinds of LEGO Cities with relatively little effort and additional pieces. The new LEGO Icons set will launch on June 1 for LEGO Insiders or June 4 widely, for £179.99 / $209.99 / €199.99.
