LEGO Minecraft 21265 The Crafting Table pays homage to the first sets

LEGO Minecraft's first 18+ model – 21265 The Crafting Table – pays homage to the very first sets in the theme while being compatible too.

21265 The Crafting Table has been officially revealed, featuring microfigures and a miniature landscape based on the 15-year-old game contained in a downscaled Crafting Table. Those who have been with LEGO Minecraft since 2012 might recognise another aspect of the upcoming set though.

The modules of 21265 The Crafting Table, which can be rearranged to your liking, are the same size as that of the original LEGO Minecraft Micro World range. This includes LEGO CUUSOO's 21102 Minecraft Micro World - The Forest and the three non-CUUSOO sets that followed it. LEGO CUUSOO was the original name for LEGO Ideas, for those newer to the world of LEGO.

By making the modules in 21265 The Crafting Table the same size as the first LEGO Minecraft set, the debut adult-aimed model for the theme not only pays homage to its origins but celebrates them by being compatible with them.

There appears to be nothing stopping you from attaching the newer biomes of 21265 The Crafting Table to the original LEGO Minecraft sets to create an even more colourful creation, while comparing how the builds have changed including the village houses. It's an ingenious homage from the LEGO Minecraft design team, though not everything is completely compatible.

While the figures from the original four Micro World models aren't on the same scale as those in 21265 The Crafting Table, it should be easy (aside from the Endermen and Ender Dragon) to modify them to be appropriately stout.

21265 The Crafting Table is available to pre-order now for £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99, ahead of its actual release on August 1. Starting today, an all-new range of LEGO Minecraft models are available too, including 21264 The Ender Dragon and End Ship and its new version of the LEGO Ender Dragon.
