LEGO Star Wars 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge officially revealed

The LEGO Group has officially revealed this year’s flagship LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series set, the nearly-4,000-piece 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge.

Marking the return of Jabba the Hutt to the LEGO Star Wars line-up for the first time since 2013, 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge is the third rendition of the gangster’s luxury yacht in LEGO – and far and away the biggest to date thanks to its UCS label. It weighs in at 3,942 pieces in total, with 11 different characters in the box. But it doesn’t come cheap.

You’ll need to part with £429.99 / $499.99 / €499.99 to bring home 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge. For those playing along at home, that’s the same price as 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, 76269 Avengers Tower and 76405 Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition, and makes the Sail Barge the fifth-most-expensive LEGO Star Wars set of all time.

For your money you’ll get a detailed barge that measures 77cm long and rocks a fully-realised interior, complete with a cockpit, prison cell, kitchen, armoury and entertainment room. That makes this another minifigure-scale Ultimate Collector Series set (along with 75192 Millennium Falcon, 75331 The Razor Crest and so on) and perhaps the first to skewer the space between UCS and Master Builder Series models.

The full character line-up includes Jabba the Hutt, Salacious Crumb, Bib Fortuna, Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, a Gamorrean Guard, Max Rebo, Kithaba and two brand new obscure aliens in Vizam and Wooof. Jabba looks to feature updated printing from his 2013 version, while Princess Leia has also been retooled with dual-moulded legs, giving her iconic gold bikini outfit a little more coverage.

75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge will be available exclusively for LEGO Insiders from October 3, before going on wider sale at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores on October 6, for £429.99 / $499.99 / €499.99. Early adopters will receive a free copy of 40730 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber, which is available exclusively with purchases of 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge until October 10 (or while stocks last).
