LEGO Star Wars 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor might be a downgrade

LEGO Star Wars 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor might be a downgrade

One of three new LEGO Star Wars sets coming in 2025 deviates from the 19-year norm and its accuracy somewhat suffers as a result.

Smyths Toys France recently revealed a trio of upcoming LEGO Star Wars models including the latest take on the Jedi Interceptor. The builds based on this ship will be celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2025. Every minifigure-scale version of the ship has had a notably similar build with the same cockpit windscreen element, but that's changing with 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor.

The 2025 LEGO Star Wars not only packs in some exciting minifigures but also a new kind of cockpit windscreen that more accurately depicts the overall size and shape of the Jedi Interceptor cockpit. Oddly, that comes with an inherent inaccuracy that has been correctly interpreted in every other Jedi Interceptor model.

The new element is designed with studs on the front to hold the domed piece that points forward, moving it alongside the cockpit instead of keeping it attached to the rest of the ship. The latter option is how it has been in LEGO Star Wars sets since 7256 Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid in 2005.

It's also how the ship is depicted in the movies, animated series and other sources. Choosing to include these studs makes the piece more versatile beyond LEGO Star Wars but the added inaccuracy is still an odd choice. Instead, accommodating a build which keeps the dome secured to the body of the ship would have been preferable for a more functionally accurate model.

That's not how 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor is designed though as the back of the box confirms. The decision to shift to a new cockpit windscreen element now is strange considering that the old piece is still in production, recently appearing in 42178 Surface Space Loader LT78.

Despite the inaccuracy, the new Anakin and Ahsoka minifigures in 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor will likely prove enticing enough for enthusiasts to pick up the set in 2025. Here's what else is confirmed or rumoured for the theme next year.
