There's a new LEGO Batman set coming – 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City – but its price has inspired an affordable alternative.
First impressions and community reactions to 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City have taken note of its £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 price tag, especially when it is one of only a few LEGO DC models as of late that also includes the £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box.
Batman enthusiasts without the budget currently for 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City next month may not be out of luck entirely though as someone has devised a more affordable alternative.
Focusing on the right-most portion of the skyline featuring Wayne Manor and the Batcave, maddadbricks on Instagram has created a 518-piece slice of 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City in the same style using only parts currently available as of March 2024.
Instructions are not available at the time of writing but it may be worth keeping an eye on their Rebrickable page. There seems to be an audience for an affordable alternative to the new set, judging by the initial reactions.
It has all the same features as the segment in 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City and measures 20cm high, over 14cm wide and nearly 8cm deep. Aside from the Batwing being moved to be included alongside the Batmobile and the cover for the Batcave being amended to not be in the skyline, it's an impressive effort so soon after the reveal.
Based on the featured pieces and the quantity of them, recreating this custom model would almost certainly be less expensive than 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City though it doesn't cover anywhere near as much as Gotham City as a trade-off.
Those without the budget for the upcoming build may find interest in maddadbricks' build but otherwise, you can expect to see 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City on shelves from April 1 for LEGO Insiders or April 4 for everyone else.
