Fresh LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight secrets revealed

Fresh LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight secrets revealed

Even more secrets have been hidden away within official LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launch media for fans to discover.

Fans patiently awaiting any news regarding TT Games’ next LEGO title finally had their prayers answered last night. The first trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was revealed at Gamescom 2025, with the video game due to arrive almost four years after LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga dropped and spanning 86 years of the DC character in film, television and comic books.

With the upcoming interactive title slated to be released sometime in 2026, there’s still plenty we don’t know about LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight though. Fortunately, we’ve managed to unearth a few more nuggets of information about the new game, with a number of superhero secrets hidden within official launch media.

Official details for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight note that The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul and Bane (hilariously voiced by Matt Berry) will all appear in the game.

In addition, the trailer also shows the Red Hood battling Batman at Ace Chemicals, shortly before he takes a plunge into a chemical bath and becomes the Clown Prince of Crime. That origin is taken straight from the pages of many DC comic books, but later on we see Heath Ledger’s take on the villain, possibly suggesting that multiple versions of The Joker might appear in the game.

Also spotted in the trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is Egghead, a whimsical character played by Vincent Price in the 1960s Batman TV show. The egg-themed bad guy can be seen during a prison break sequence in the footage and last popped up as a physical minifigure in 70920 Egghead Mech Food Fight in 2018.

What's more, billboards dotted around Gotham City in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight refer to a car insurance company called ‘Hardly Dented’, a not-so-subtle nod to Harvey Dent, otherwise known as the villainous Two-Face.

The wider DC Universe

LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight Kord Industries

Despite LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight looking likely to be the most expansive take on Gotham City to date, it seems at first as if the wider DC Universe might not make much of an appearance, compared to the much more inclusive LEGO DC Super Villains.

However, that may not strictly be the case with the upcoming TT Games title. A few shots in the official launch trailer clearly show shipping crates labelled with ‘Kord Industries’, a reference to a tech company owned by Ted Kord, otherwise known as the Blue Beetle. The opportunity to play as the character in the game might seem like a long shot, but we’re still keeping our fingers crossed.

“Where does he get those wonderful toys?”

Initial details regarding LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight state that the game will feature plenty of rewards to collect, surprises to discover around every corner, down every alleyway, and on every rooftop.

That’s certainly true when it comes to a Wayne Tech chest spotted in more footage on the game’s official website, one that opens up to reveal what looks to be a green and yellow circuit board. It’s not known at this stage if the item offers up new gadgets, suit enhancements or extra abilities, but we’re betting there will be plenty of the collectibles to locate around Gotham City.

LEGO studs are confirmed to be back once again in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a staple of every TT Games LEGO title to date. A player’s stud total can be found in the top right-hand corner of the screen, just above a counter denoting the number of Wayne Tech circuit boards collected so far.

Images of the demo version of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight at Gamescom 2025 also show more on-screen information on the lower left of the screen, with Batman’s head next to eight hearts (presumably denoting a player’s current health status), plus a curved yellow bar with a bat symbol below it potentially offering some kind of D-pad functionality.

Over on the lower right-hand of the screen is a Batarang symbol and another D-pad icon, possibly placed to show which gadgets or tools a character is currently using or can switch between.

We’ll know more about LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight in the months to come when the game is released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 system, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store sometime in 2026. Players can already sign up for a free Golden Age Batsuit inspired by Detective Comics #27 right now by signing up for a WB Games account.
