LEGO BrickLink apologises and delays regional store closures

Head of BrickLink Steven Lee has apologised to the LEGO community and announced a delay to the closure of BrickLink stores across 35 countries.

Following backlash from the LEGO community after BrickLink announced that it would be closing down stores in 35 countries, the process has been delayed to give sellers more notice. Lee also apologised in a statement shared with Brick Fanatics via the LEGO Ambassador Network.

"First, I want to apologise," Lee wrote. "We went about informing and engaging our community and sellers the wrong way. It wasn’t with the care and transparency we strive for, and you’ve been right to point this out."

He went on to write that the feedback, although 'tough to hear,' was appreciated. Instead of the original closure date of December 12, BrickLink will now keep stores in the 35 affected countries open until January 31, 2026. Fees have also been removed for any affected sellers in those countries for November, December, and January.

"Every builder, buyer and seller matters to us, but we needed to make tough decisions as operating in numerous regions presents greater complications as we plan significant upgrades to BrickLink.com," he continued. "While these closures will affect a small percentage of BrickLink's global activity, we understand the impact that this will have on the community in these countries."

Lee closed the statement with a note that BrickLink is implementing various background changes in the coming year, including 'a substantial investment in our IT infrastructure'.

"Although some of these backend changes might go unseen, they’re crucial to the future of BrickLink – so we’re here for another 25 years," Lee said. "I want to assure you that we’re committed to continuing to make BrickLink the world’s best LEGO fan community."
