LEGO x BrickLink integration causes outage and frustration

The LEGO and BrickLink account integration went live yesterday, but some technical hitches have left users frustrated.

Users of LEGO.com and BrickLink can now log into both sites using the same account, with the integration now requiring people to have a LEGO account in order to access many BrickLink services. Those who do not integrate will have their BrickLink accounts automatically deactivated on December 31, 2025. That will anonymise all their data on the platform, requiring them to create an all-new account to continue using services such as buying, selling, and making a wishlist.

The launch of this single sign-on service happened on September 18, but some technical issues in the background caused BrickLink to be shut down entirely for maintenance.

"Today we encountered an issue while launching LEGO Account integration, and the site will be down while we work to fix this issue," wrote BrickLink on X at 8:52pm (GMT) on September 18. "We understand this is affecting your experience, and we apologise for the inconvenience. We will update you as soon as we have more information."

By 12.14am (GMT) on September 19, the BrickLink team reported that the problem had been solved after around four hours of outage, with a message that it would continue to 'monitor' any further issues. People in the comments of the post still reported issues accessing their accounts, which BrickLink asked them to forward to the help desk for personalised assistance.

While many BrickLink users were frutsrated by the outage, shop owners in particular raised complaints about not being able to access their stores.

"I have a store in BrickLink, and if I grt an order and can't log on because of this, we're gonna have an issue," wrote GonzoStudioz on X. "Fix your account system, LEGO."

A Brick Fanatics commenter on one of our articles also expressed frustration and needing to make a LEGO account to maintain a presence on BrickLink, writing: "Was forced to make a LEGO account to merge my BrickLink one when logging onto BrickLink. Merger doesn’t recognize my BrickLink password so I can't get onto BrickLink. I resent this acquisition by LEGO. I don't see the benefit to users."

That same issue was shared by many over on reddit, although for some people, it was resolved by ensuring they were typing in their username, rather than email. Other people never found a resolution, with at least a handful of people simply creating new accounts entirely to sidestep the hassle.

"I accepted my fate and just made a new BrickLink account," wrote freeball78. "I lost feedback points and a few wanted lists, but oh well."

Like it or not, to continue using any BrickLink services that require an account, you will need to integrate your LEGO.com account or create one if you don't already have one by December 31, 2025. Check out our full breakdown, including a how-to, here.
