The reveal of the 2026 LEGO zodiac animal gift-with-purchase has finally finished the LEGO Group's 12-year journey to cover every animal.
40779 Year of the Horse has been unveiled ahead of its likely release early next year, coming in as the 12th zodiac animal gift-with-purchase. This means that the LEGO Group has finally covered all of the zodiac animals after over a decade. It all started in 2015 with the year of the sheep set, debuting the concept of zodiac animal models with an additional packet for gifts.
Since that first set, the range has adopted a different style for its animals and has been consistent with the designs ever since 2016's monkey build. Those who have collected all 12 will be able to see the difference more clearly, visible thanks to the smaller eyes and the square base in the sheep.
The good news is that the sheep is next up to receive a zodiac animal set in 2027, should the LEGO Group continue these seasonal models. A remake of the first model would be ideal to create a sheep sculpture more in line with the revamped style.
