As reviews for LEGO Creator 3-in-1 31152 Space Astronaut start to emerge, there's a hidden secret underneath the astronaut's opaque visor.
With a flurry of LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets revealed for 2024, there are several standouts from the group. Prime amongst them is 31152 Space Astronaut, part of a growing number of sets united across themes with Space branding. As expected with sets from this theme, there are three ways to build it: as an astronaut, a shuttle, and a space dog. Each fits on the brick-built black stand, lending themselves easily for display – but seemingly without many options for play. Until you look closer.
LEGO YouTuber Tiago Catarino has published his video review, diving into some of the details of 31152 Space Astronaut that weren't focused on in the promotion and listing of the set. For example, inside the astronaut's golden visor, there is what at first appears to be "a random assembly of pieces". However, as Tiago points out, it's not random at all.
In fact, it's the perfect spot for a tiny minifigure to set inside. Perhaps, then, 31152 Space Astronaut isn't meant to be an astronaut at all but rather a huge spacesuit-shaped machine, ready for minifigures to explore space in. It evokes feelings of 40649 Up-Scaled Minifigure, whose cap folds back to reveal a tiny version of himself behind.

Tiago has placed an Earth-bound minifigure in the helmet of his copy of 31152 Space Astronaut, as there aren't any minifigures actually included in the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 set but anyone with a wide variety of LEGO Space minifigures could have a lot of fun here. Create some astronaut inception by placing one of the many colours of the Classic Spaceman, the adorable Spacebaby, or one of the more modern astronaut minifigures from sets like 31142 Space Roller Coaster, for example.
You can try out whatever minifigure you would like for yourself when 31152 Space Astronaut releases on January 1, 2024 for £44.99 / $54.99 / €49.99.
