LEGO designer Mark Stafford has answered the question on everyone's lips: why is Batman so lonely in LEGO DC 76304 Batman Forever Batmobile?
Due for release on August 1, 76304 Batman Forever Batmobile features just one minifigure, Batman himself. The majority of the 909 pieces therefore go into a detailed build of the Batmobile itself, but there are some easy choices that could have helped to flesh out the build – especially for the price tag of £90.
When asked during a recent LEGO Fan Media roundtable, LEGO designer Mark Stafford, who worked on the LEGO DC set, said that the inclusion of just Batman as a minifigure came down to the priorities for the set.
"The more minifigures we put in here, the less the Batmobile is prioritised," explained Mark. "For 76304 Batman Forever Batmobile, with how intricate it is and how iconic it is, it felt better to put the budget into making sure the Batmobile was perfect, rather than pushing up the price for versions of the characters that aren't the most iconic versions of those characters."

However, it really comes down to whether LEGO fans can see the value. LEGO DC fans have been calling out for a more diverse cast of characters, with the vast majority of sets in the theme focusing on Batman and Batman alone. While we've seen a scattering of other minifigures in recent years, it's pretty safe to say that DC fans probably already have a few Batman minifigures in their collection.
No matter how detailed or impressive the build of 76304 Batman Forever Batmobile may be, if the lack of minifigures doesn't attract DC LEGO fans, then they'll never get to experience it anyway.
