LEGO Dimensions is officially 10 years old as of September 27, 2025, and the legacy of the experimental LEGO game can be seen to this day.
We've got good news and bad news, depending on how you want to take it. LEGO Dimensions is 10 years old as of yesterday, and anyone who played it back in the day is a decade older, too. The now-legendary LEGO game debuted in an era rife with toys-to-life titles, leveraging the toy angle more than any other thanks to the inclusion of real LEGO minifigures and buildable elements on scannable tags.
As a huge crossover project with over 30 franchises and licensed characters interacting with one another, LEGO Dimensions' legacy can be clearly felt in the LEGO portfolio a decade after its release. This is thanks in no small part to its second year. The second year of LEGO Dimensions turned the game's attentions towards '80s movies, including Gremlins. The upcoming launch of

As we showcased in our review, the buildable Gizmo pairs well with the Gizmo and Stripe minifigures from the 2016 team pack, and they never would have debuted had it not been LEGO Dimensions' start in 2015.
The first year of LEGO Dimensions also offered up the first LEGO minifigure from Oz – the Wicked Witch – based on the 1939 The Wizard of Oz movie. 2025's portfolio includes Wicked, which is based on the Wizard of Oz story. The theme most recently debuted its first minifigures of Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch.
Despite there being no release date at the time of writing, it's also worth noting that LEGO Dimensions' second year included The Goonies, which is confirmed to be receiving a future LEGO set. The initial level pack includes a Sloth minifigure, as well as builds of One-Eyed Willy's pirate ship and the skeleton organ from the film. All three of these were pitched for the upcoming LEGO Ideas set, and at least one is likely to stay after its initial LEGO Dimensions debut nine years ago.
There's also the continuation of LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog following its 2016 debut in LEGO Dimensions' second year, revealing just how impactful the 2015 toys-to-life game has been on the current-day LEGO portfolio.
The title started the ball rolling on several partnerships, and there's a lot left for the LEGO group to consider bringing back after an initial debut in LEGO Dimensions. The game's packs have provided the foundations for minifigures and more for the likes of The A-Team, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Knight Rider. We'll have to see what comes next, if anything, and appreciate LEGO Dimensions and the legacy it has left 10 years later in the meantime.
