LEGO fans gift Lewis Hamilton amazing Roscoe tribute build

Following the passing of Lewis Hamilton's beloved dog Roscoe, the driver has revealed an incredible tribute to the dog, packed with references.

The world of Formula 1 was overcome with the news that Lewis Hamilton's friendly dog, Roscoe, had passed away due to illness last week, but the driver will always be able to remember his companion thanks to two creative and kind LEGO fans, who teamed up to gift him a portrait.

"This LEGO portrait of Roscoe really touched me," shared Hamilton on Instagram. "The amount of detail in it is incredible, and I can’t imagine how long it took. Thank you to Karen and Ilona for making this and sending it to me. I also want to take a moment to thank all of you for the outpouring of love that there’s been since Roscoe’s passing. It’s still very painful and will be forever, but all of the support is helping me through this tremendously."

This is no mere mosaic; the giant build is 3D in nature, similar to 31212 The Milky Way Galaxy. The difference is that instead of Easter eggs related to space and stars, there are references to Roscoe and Hamilton's lives.

Fans have been eagerly digging through images of the new build to spot these various references and appreciate the artwork. These Easter eggs range from Hamilton's Met Gala outfit to Roscoe's skateboard, and it's clear that the duo of fans who put it together are big fans of the driver.

Thankfully, we don't need to wonder who the creators behind this portrait are, since they've come forward with evidence that they made this gift.

The creators behind this portrait have been confirmed as fans Ilona and Karen on X (formerly Twitter), who have shared more insight into the build after they gifted it to Hamilton last summer. The portrait now has a special meaning after Roscoe's passing, explaining why it has only just been shared.

The pair have shared much closer looks at the portrait, including custom-made minifigures, prints and stickers that you wouldn't otherwise see without visiting Hamilton's house to admire the 3D sculpture. The creators have also commented on the gift independently, and have been taking time to interact with fellow fans and confirm numerous references.

"It was an honour to make this for you," said Karen. "It was worth all the hours, and we hope it will bring back memories."

"It was an honour meeting you," shared Ilona. "It means the world to us that it touched you!"

Though you can't purchase this astounding creation for display in your home, there is a wide range of LEGO Formula 1 sets currently available, from nostalgic driver tributes to modern car recreations.
