LEGO is finally fixing this NINJAGO piece after 14 years

LEGO NINJAGO's 15th anniversary will be the perfect time to amend some older elements, including finally fixing one of the first hood pieces.

There are many details for longtime NINJAGO fans to admire in the upcoming 71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith 15th Anniversary, from the minifigures to the show Easter eggs, but there's one reference that showcases a classic piece remake, which also finally fulfils a promise shown in artwork and set renders 14 years ago.

The ZX hood piece is back with a new mould in 2026, spotted hidden in the roof of 71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith 15th Anniversary. There's one big difference between this and the piece that debuted in 2012, though. This time, it actually looks like the artwork and renders.

The original ZX hood was advertised in renders and artwork to have a golden (or silver for some of the ninja) crown wrapping around the head. In reality, it was only printed on the front in a somewhat disappointing display comparatively.

To resolve this, the LEGO Group now appears to be dual-moulding the hood to ensure that the gold section wraps all the way around. Lifestyle imagery for the new set confirms that it doesn't just look accurate digitally either, as it did in 2012.

It's a relatively small update compared to the rest of the 15th-anniversary set, but one that is sure to please NINJAGO fans disappointed with the hood from over a decade ago. Enthusiasts will undoubtedly be pleased to see the LEGO NINJAGO team finally living up to the promises made back in 2012.

71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith 15th Anniversary launches on January 1, 2026, for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99, featuring six exclusive minifigures and a full 1,200-piece blacksmith building
