The first trailer for LEGO Fortnite has dropped, with cinematic footage giving players a flavour of what to expect from the upcoming game mode.
The fruits of the LEGO Group and Epic Games’ highly-anticipated collaboration were recently-revealed, with LEGO Fortnite debuting as an all-new game mode that’s due to arrive on December 7. Players were given a sneak peek of what's to come during last week’s Big Bang event, with a multiverse of worlds colliding, revealing one particularly tantalising brick-based realm.
Described as the ‘ultimate survival crafting adventure’, the free v28.00 update will feature LEGO Styles, over 1,200 versions of existing Fortnite character Outfits available for minifigure customisation, LEGO versions of Emotes, multiple brick-built environments, buildings, creatures and more.
Ahead of the game mode’s arrival, the first cinematic trailer for LEGO Fortnite has now been released, giving players a taste of what they can expect from the imminent video game mash-up. The footage kicks off with Fortnite character Brite Bomber running from shadowy pursuers and passing through a portal into a brick-built world.
The LEGO Fortnite trailer seems to suggest that the game mode may in fact lean more heavily into a Minecraft-style of play, with the ability to create items such as tools using work benches. Buildings, crops and weapons are also seen being crafted, with the latter no doubt coming in handy when battling the likes of massive wolves, skeletons and subterranean giants.
We also get to see a thriving LEGO town, complete with numerous minifigures, that could suggest potential multiplayer options, and a balloon craft reminiscent of Fortnite’s Battle Bus that might be a handy form of in-game transportation throughout the island environment.
While no actual gameplay is featured in the LEGO Fortnite trailer, the cinematic footage does at least give a flavour of what's to come and certainly retains the tongue-in-cheek atmosphere of past LEGO video games.

We’ll find out more tomorrow, when LEGO Fortnite finally makes its debut and players can get to grips with the new game mode. In addition, those who link their LEGO Insiders and Epic Games accounts will be rewarded with a special Explorer Emilie Fortnite Outfit, which will appear in your locker on December 7.
