LEGO unveils golden Batmobiles to promote in-game content

The LEGO Group unveiled golden Batmobiles to represent the in-game cars fans can unlock with purchases of upcoming DC LEGO sets.

During Fan Media Days, the LEGO Group revealed how LEGO Batman fans will be able to unlock in-game golden versions of the Batmobiles when they purchase the newly revealed DC LEGO sets. To highlight what's to come digitally, the designers revealed a trio of brick-built golden Batmobiles.

The golden cars in the photos below are not for purchase, nor will they ever be, but instead represent the in-game versions of the cars that will be available to redeem via a code in TT Games’ LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight video game.

"There's a specific code inside the box of each set that you can claim and redeem for a golden version of that exact Batmobile in the game," explained LEGO Super Heroes Designer Tin Nguyen. "How cool is that? You can play in that golden Batmobile in the game.

"We did a specific type of surprise, so they're not available to go into production," Tin added, so don't get your hopes up for a wealth of new golden chrome parts flooding the LEGO system anytime soon.

The three Batmobiles will also show up in their regular versions in-game, so you can choose between whether you want to drive a more realistic Batmobile, or have one made of (LEGO) gold. The golden versions will only be available to those who have the codes from the physical sets.
