LEGO Gringotts Bank stickers dive into more than Harry Potter history

The stickers included in LEGO 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank - Collectors' Edition tell the story of more than the Harry Potter franchise.

Stickers might not always be a popular choice among LEGO fans, but they do often serve a useful purpose. In the designer video for LEGO Harry Potter 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank - Collectors' Edition, LEGO Harry Potter lead graphic designer Peter Kjærgaard confirmed that not only can you track the magical movies through the stick-on posters and notices, but also the progression of the LEGO Harry Potter theme.

"The sticker sheet contains a lot of cool references from all around the movies, sprinkled around on posters and small notices around the goblin offices, as well as some cool nice details, including a very cool portrait of the first LEGO goblin for LEGO Harry Potter," pointed out Peter.

Indeed, the tiny poster is a strikingly accurate replica, capturing the plain colours of the very first LEGO Harry Potter goblin's face and his red suit, complete with a bowtie. He first appeared alongside a blue-suited goblin companion in 4714 Gringotts Bank. It's presumably a minifigure version of Griphook, as he's pictured taking Harry and Hagrid deep into the vaults on the Boy Wizard's very first visit to the wizarding bank.

First released 21 years ago in 2002, including a reference to not only the first goblin but the very first brick-built Gringotts Bank is a nice nod to the building's LEGO roots. Not only does it prove how far LEGO Harry Potter has come (especially when you compare the level of detail between the OG and our modern goblins), but it also adds another cool reference not just for Harry Potter fans, but also long-term LEGO fans.
