The LEGO Group launches its Build to Give 2023 campaign

The Build to Give initiative is aiming to offer 1.5 million children a chance to play, thanks to free sets donated by the LEGO Group.

The LEGO Group today revealed details of this year’s Build to Give campaign, an initiative to get LEGO sets into the hands of kids in hospitals, children’s homes and in vulnerable communities. The annual event runs until December 20, 2023, and builders around the world are being encouraged to get involved online and in LEGO Stores.

The LEGO Group wants you to grab a pile of bricks, then design and make a heart model, take a picture of your completed creation and post it on social media for all to see with the hashtag #BuildToGive. For each heart that’s built and shared online, the LEGO Group will donate a LEGO set to a child in need this holiday season.

To date, over 6.5 million LEGO sets have been donated since the Build to Give campaign launched in 2017. This year the LEGO Group is looking to boost that figure by another 1.5 million sets and you can personally get involved online or in-store. As well as the social media option, visitors to their local LEGO Store on November 4 to 5, November 11 to 12 and November 18 to 19 will be able to take part in building events to make their own hearts, presumably from a selection of pieces provided.

This year’s Build to Give initiative is also running alongside the LEGO Group’s current Play Is Your Superpower campaign, with the latter today being boosted with a new festive film. The short video is part of a wider goal to encourage children to step away from their screens to play each day and references a number of popular LEGO themes as Star Wars, DREAMZzz, Technic, NINJAGO, Friends and Disney.
