An upcoming gift-with-purchase designed by a fan in a LEGO Ideas challenge has been officially revealed on the online LEGO store.
As part of a Singles Day contest hosted by LEGO Ideas, FR_AN's Reading, Reading, Reading was selected as the winning design to become an official LEGO GWP. Now, the final version has been officially revealed, with a new name of 40698 Books Are My Passion and a slightly changed look. The gift-with-purchase will be available from October 28 until November 11, or as long as stocks last, for qualifying purchases at $130 / €130 / £130 and above, according to the LEGO Ideas blog.
The 285-piece set holds fairly close to the original design, featuring one minifigure and her cosy library, all contained on a neat base. The colourful bookcase has a ladder to reach the top shelves, with a comfy blue arm chair in the foreground made extra cosy with a plant and a cup of tea.
Standing just 12cm tall, the GWP will make the ideal desktop or bookshelf decoration and could even work as a brick-built bookend. It's a fairly substantial GWP that seems worth the spend, especially if you've got your eye on some November 1 releases. However, it could easily sell out between October 28 and November 1, so if you're especially keen to get your hands on it, it might be wiser to order sooner rather than later.
