LEGO House 2024 exclusive set rumoured to be based on three classic sets

The LEGO Group continues to tug on nostalgic heartstrings in 2024, as rumoured details of the LEGO House exclusive set for this year suggest references to three classic sets.

Just a few days after LEGO House Master Builder Stuart Harris appeared to tease the incoming announcement of the LEGO House exclusive set, we now have some rumoured details ahead of the official reveal. itavixbrix reports on Instagram that the set, dubbed 40505 Building Systems, will include 1,211 pieces and launch on March 1. What's more, it's believed to feature three construction systems and three microscale models, based on these three old sets: 810 Basic Motor Set, 853 Car Chassis, and 2705 Passenger Train.

These sets were first released in 1985, 1977, and 1983 respectively. While it's worth noting that these details are unconfirmed rumours, 2705 Passenger Train is a LEGO DUPLO set, so would fit with Stuart Harris picking up a yellow DUPLO brick in the teaser for the set.

This wouldn't be the first time that the LEGO Group has called back to its decades-long history of sets, with an exhibit in the recently-released 10326 Natural History Museum including tiny stud-scale versions of classic LEGO Space sets, while there are also microscale versions of LEGO NINJAGO City sets coming later this year.

All in all, it appears that 40505 Building Systems will be a homage to classic LEGO sets of the past, focusing on some of the more technical models from the company's past. We won't know for sure what the exclusive set will include or look like until it's officially revealed, but you can ensure you're one of the lucky few to attend the LEGO House set launch on February 29 by buying tickets right now. They cost 950 DKK per person (roughly £110 / $140 / €127) and include a copy of the 2024 LEGO House exclusive set (with a retail price of 699 DKK), signed by the two designers, as well as refreshments on the day.
