LEGO How to Train Your Dragon set may be smaller than expected

The rumoured LEGO Icons How To Train Your Dragon set might be a lot smaller than you were expecting and hopefully, the price will downsize too.

According to a new rumour from Redditor Clay_Bricks, the list of LEGO Icons sets due for this year still includes a How to Train Your Dragon set, but its piece count is said to be a lot smaller than you might been anticipating.

Given the older report that the How to Train Your Dragon build would cover a buildable Toothless without any minifigures, your mind might have raced to the likes of 2024's 43247 Young Simba the Lion King – an 18+ LEGO Disney model based on an animated movie aimed at older fans. While we wouldn't blame you for setting such expectations given the evidence, it's now believed that the 2025 build will consist of only 784 pieces.

For a direct comparison, 43247 Young Simba the Lion King has 1,445 pieces and depicts a similarly animated character measuring over 29cm tall, costing £114.99 / $129.99 / €129.99. Rumour has it that 10375 How to Train Your Dragon: Toothless will consist of just over half that piece count, meaning it should be at most half the size – even with specialised elements or fabric for the wings.

A better idea of 10375 How to Train Your Dragon: Toothless' size might be gauged by looking at 10331 Kingfisher Bird with 834 pieces. The bird sculpture has no license attached to it, so its price of £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 probably isn't a good example of what to expect. Still, the 21cm tall sculpture has a similar piece count to the rumoured LEGO Icons model, while packing in a level of detail that is to be expected of an 18+ build.

The base and scenery in 10331 Kingfisher Bird take up much of the parts, but it's hard to imagine that a Toothless sculpture would be much bigger than the bird build. Either way, the next LEGO Dreamworks set is rumoured to be much smaller than the recent Disney model and while the price is not currently rumoured, it should hopefully scale down accordingly.

10375 How to Train Your Dragon: Toothless is one of many LEGO Icons sets rumoured for this year, covering a plethora of licenses. Take them all with caution until official confirmation arrives. Head here for an in-depth look at other themes' sets confirmed and rumoured sets for 2025.
