LEGO Ideas '90s challenge finalists announced and fan vote opens

LEGO Ideas announces the five finalists for its '90s-themed Next Chapter challenge and opens the fan voting to the community.

LEGO Ideas challenged fan builders to design sets based on TV shows and movies from the 1990s and the community delivered, with nearly 300 fan-designers sets put under consideration. That has now been whittled down to just five by the LEGO Ideas team but the overall winner will be chosen by way of fan vote.

The fan voting is open now, with LEGO Ideas community members able to cast their vote on the five finalists: Mind the Brick's Forrest Gump – Suitcase of Memories; Pidelium's Wallace & Gromit; Bricktoria's Buffy the Vampire Slayer Library; Blocksmiths' The Mighty Ducks (1992); and Diving Faces' Mr. Bean.

The winner of the fan vote will have their design turned into a real LEGO Ideas set, in partnership with Target (so probably a LEGO exclusive with the American retailer).

Buffy-themed designs are certainly proving popular with the LEGO Ideas team, with vjw1978’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer Library already a finalist in the other '90s-themed challenge, Build Your Nostalgia. The voting for that challenge ended in February but the winners have not yet been revealed.

In terms of next steps for the Next Chapter challenge, the LEGO Ideas team will announce the winners of The Opening Act and The Next Chapter on June 2. You have two weeks to cast your vote for a The Next Chapter finalist of your choosing, via this link.
