LEGO Ideas fatberg project is still hoping for official set

An educational but intentionally disgusting project is fighting for a chance to be an official set once more as Fighting the Fatberg enters overtime.

After a campaign for supporters starting in June, including attracting the attention of UK water company Southern Water, MOCingbird is trying again at a LEGO fatberg set and they've now reached 10,000 supporters.

This passes Sewer Heroes: Fighting the Fatberg – Overtime into the first 2024 LEGO Ideas review which now totals 43 submissions. This latest take on the project appears to be the same as the model that was rejected in the third LEGO Ideas 2022 review.

It aims to educate LEGO enthusiasts on how to prevent the buildup of fatbergs and how we can do our part to keep waste facilities clean while honouring the people who work to keep them functional.

2,521 pieces are used overall and the model consists of a truck, a street scene with an underground level and a two-storey building. It's compatible with the LEGO City road plates system that is currently in circulation too, much like the original submission.

For now, Sewer Heroes: Fighting the Fatberg – Overtime has a chance of becoming a LEGO Ideas set though it has not had success in the past. We'll have to see which of the 43 projects are approved in the future.
