31 fan-designed projects were rejected from the second 2024 review round, which also drops some clues about some designs currently under review.
There's only space for a certain number of LEGO Ideas sets to make it from project to shelves and that unfortunately means some ideas have to be rejected. That can be for any number of reasons but, when one IP gets passed over repeatedly, it suggests that there might be a reason why that specific IP isn't being selected.
The second 2024 review round was pretty IP-heavy, with popular TV shows and movies rejected that feature in the ongoing first review round in 2025 and the third 2024 review round that is still under consideration. While we can't say for sure, of course, the fact that those IPs were rejected doesn't look good for the projects still awaiting the decision from the LEGO Ideas team.
Chief among them, the rejection of Minibricks Productions' Gravity Falls: The Mystery Shack could mean that the two other fan-designed projects based on the TV show might also not be successful, mad.bricks' Gravity Falls – The Mystery Shack and BrickLumberjack618's Gravity Falls Mystery Shack.
The same could be said for Bricknificent's Bob Ross: Studio and Paintings in the third 2024 review round and Econombricks' Bob Ross – The Joy of Building in the first 2025 review round, after Brick Abe's Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting wasn't taken forward to be a future LEGO Ideas set. With Firecracker's Avatar: The Last Airbender also left behind, that could spell bad news for Trojada's Appa the Sky Bison in the current 2025 review round.
Last but not least, the third 2024 review round is currently home to Gimme Builds' Gremlins 40th Anniversary – Gizmo. However, there's already a brick-built Gizmo in production as part of a past LEGO Ideas challenge.
Of course, we can't write off any of these designs just yet. There are many reasons a LEGO Ideas project is not selected and those reasons can change from round to round. However, with rejections coming so close to one another, it does give some idea of how the LEGO Ideas team are thinking.
