LEGO Jurassic World 2025 sets reported to include Mosasaurus

A new Mosasaurus figure is rumoured to be on the way in LEGO Jurassic World's 2025 selection, said to be based on the new movie.

Update: Fanklockow has removed all information for this set from their original post and made another report that this rumour is likely fake. As always, this is a reminder to treat all LEGO rumours with the utmost caution in case precisely this occurs.

The long-awaited LEGO Mosasaurus, following 6721 Mosasaurus, is said to be coming to LEGO Jurassic World in 2025 as rumoured by Polish fan site FanKlockow. It's believed that the giant dinosaur will be featured in a set inspired by the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth.

Specifically, the source states that 76970, 76971, 76972, 76973, 76974, 76975 and 76976 as well as 76978 will likely be inspired by the fourth film in the series and that one of these builds will feature a Mosasaurus. Exactly how the LEGO Group might approach a Mosaurus in the style of LEGO Jurassic World is up for debate though.

The most obvious strategy is to take inspiration from the rest of the dinosaurs in the theme and the LEGO Jurassic World video game and create a group of specialised moulds for the aquatic creature, as pictured by Packattack04082 from the game. This would likely require at least three new pieces, one of which would be particularly lengthy.

Alternatively, they could opt for something brick-built similar to 75579 Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit despite larger dinosaurs receiving specialised figures such as in 76960 Brachiosaurus Discovery. It's too early to tell and this is only a rumour at the time of writing and should therefore be taken with caution.

The idea of us finally receiving a new LEGO Mosasaurus is exciting as the last figure of the creature was in 6721 Mosasaurus from 2001. While the exact rumoured set the dinosaur will be featured in is not known, 76978 is new and has been added to our list of every LEGO Jurassic World set rumoured for 2025.
