Early images of the LEGO Group's Lunar New Year gift-with-purchase have appeared online, giving us an early peek at one of the first free gifts of 2024.
Every year, the LEGO Group celebrates the Lunar New Year with a GWP centred around the zodiac sign for that year according to the Chinese horoscope. For 2024, that's the Wood Dragon, representing growth, progress, and abundance. As such, early images of the upcoming GWP, spotted by Dylan Chow on JD.com and reported on by The Brick Fan, reveal a colourful dragon build named 40611 Year of the Dragon.
Made up largely of red and gold, 40611 Year of the Dragon also includes turquoise and blue accents, as well as plentiful use of rounded elements to give the illusion of scales. Musical instruments and other curved decorative pieces are well-placed to work as curling horns, typical of what you would see in classic Chinese dragon designs.
There's no information yet on the exact price or dates that 40611 Year of the Dragon will be available, but it's likely to be similar to 2023's 40575 Year of the Rabbit, which was available between January 15 and 25, 2023 on all orders over £80 / $85 / €85 for LEGO Insiders (then VIPs).
We'll have to wait until official confirmation from the LEGO Group to know for sure, but it's sure to be on its way sometime in January, accompanying the four LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival sets that have been revealed for January 1, 2024.
