LEGO March 1 releases: Everything you need to know before you buy

LEGO March 1 releases: Everything you need to know before you buy

March 1 is set to be a big day for LEGO fans but we've got the ultimate breakdown if you need some guidance on your day-one shopping.

With dozens of LEGO sets launching next month, ranging from sprawling Formula 1-themed models to one-off sets that might have slipped under your radar, you'd be forgiven for forgetting what's coming up. Thankfully, the team at Brick Fanatics never forgets a set, so we've rounded up some of the most talked about, controversial, and must-have builds dropping on March 1.

Read on for a summary of each set, a quick look at reviews – and our final verdict, as always.

LEGO Art 31215 Vincent Van Gogh – Sunflowers

LEGO Art 31215 lifestyle featured 1024x576

Of all the themes in the current LEGO portfolio, LEGO Art is easily among the most unpredictable. You never quite know where it’s going to go next – it could be a three-dimensional sculpture, a two-dimensional mosaic, or something in between. Falling firmly into that latter category is 31215 Vincent van Gogh – Sunflowers, a spiritual successor to 21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night that doesn’t quite leap from the frame in such dramatic fashion as that LEGO Ideas set.

It does still take advantage of the same relief effect as 31208 Hokusai – The Great Wave, 31213 Mona Lisa and so on to ensure there’s more to this set than simply laying down tiles, though, with each of the original masterpiece’s sunflowers protruding from the canvas, which itself is painted in glorious yellows. Whether you’re a budding art aficionado or are just looking for a LEGO set that can take up wall space instead of shelf space, the latest LEGO Art set is worth checking out – though you may want to wait for at least a small discount on its £169.99 / $199.99 / €199.99 RRP.

“In this latest LEGO Art set, the line really comes of age. Here is a build that, from a distance, looks a lot like the original. It is not a case of pixel art, but an evolution to a point that we see the mixture of plate and tile flow together to remind us of the original brush strokes in the image.”

Our verdict: LEGO Art continues its strong start to 2025 with another brick-built masterpiece.

LEGO Horizon 77037 Aloy & Varl vs. Shell-Walker & Sawtooth

LEGO Horizons 77037 Aloy Varl vs. Shell Walker Sawtooth lifestyle 4 1024x576

If you were one of the few people who played LEGO Horizon Adventures back in November, you’ve probably been waiting patiently (or not-so-patiently) to get your hands on 77037 Aloy & Varl vs. Shell-Walker & Sawtooth, the LEGO Group’s second set tied to the Horizon franchise – and, as of March, the only one you won’t need to turn to the aftermarket to acquire. (2022’s Tallneck has long since retired.)

But whether you played Guerrilla Games’ brick-built spin-off or not, this is one March 2025 release every LEGO Horizon fan should really be making a beeline for on day one, not least because it’s surprisingly cheap for what’s in the box. For just £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99, you’re getting two brick-built Horizon machines, two very detailed minifigures (complete with arm and leg printing) and some small slices of scenery. The builds aren’t quite on the level of the 18+ Tallneck, but then they really don’t need to be to scale well with Aloy and Varl.

“This is an example of a smaller, more affordable set for the collectors who don’t want to (or can’t) drop $300 every month on huge, new sets! I’m excited that [the LEGO Group] is doing this, and hoping for more D&D sets in this size/price range.”

Affordable and fairly pricedBuilds aren’t quite as detailed as their 18+ companion
Interesting and faithful replicas of well-known Horizon machinesErm… where was this five months ago?

Our verdict: An easy day one recommendation for Horizon fans thanks to its generous price tag.

LEGO Star Wars 75429 AT-AT Driver Helmet

LEGO Star Wars 75429 AT AT Driver Helmet featured 2 1024x576

If you thought the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection was done and dusted, well, you probably weren’t alone. Instead, it looks like the LEGO Group is simply happy to rotate its collection of 18+ subthemes from a galaxy far, far away, with the Helmet Collection tapping in for the Diorama Collection in 2025. The first result of that line-up change is 75429 AT-AT Driver Helmet, a set once rumoured to be on the way as far back as 2022.

It didn’t come to pass then but it can be yours from March 1 for £69.99 / $69.99 / €79.99 (we’re not sure what that price discrepancy in the US is about either, but hey, enjoy it while you can stateside), serving up the perfect companion piece for 75313 AT-AT. Shame that Ultimate Collector Series set has just retired. Still, the approach here does have us hoping the LEGO Group might revisit the Stormtrooper and TIE Fighter Pilot eventually…

“I guess the LEGO designers went back to the drawing board of how to design these things, because there are next-level techniques being utilised in this helmet, better than any other. I thought that Darth Vader was very complex, but the AT-AT Driver just takes it to a whole new level, utilising some Technic – but not as much as you might expect… I felt like I was building a mini UCS set.”

Solid Brix Studios
Pros of 75429 AT-AT Driver HelmetCons of 75429 AT-AT Driver Helmet
A more refined take on an Imperial helmet than its predecessorsLike all helmets, still pretty expensive for the size of the finished model
Much more involved and engaging build than any helmet previouslyMakes necessary artistic compromises for the medium
Character choice successfully treads the line between obscure and recognisable

Our verdict: As good a reason as any to dive back into the Helmet Collection. Starting from scratch now could get expensive, though…

LEGO Technic 42206 Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 / 42207 Ferrari SF-24

Not content to let Speed Champions completely dominate the F1 podium in March, Technic is also debuting two new 1:8-scale Formula 1 cars tied to two of the biggest names in the sport right now: Ferrari and Red Bull. Both of these cars come in at a not-insignificant £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99 apiece, which is a small bump over last year’s 42171 Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance and a hefty increase on 2022’s 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car.

What are you getting for that extra money? Well, reviews of these racers have yet to surface, so it’s tough to say for sure – but at first glance, they at least look a little more refined than their predecessors. And there’s more going on under the hood too, with a two-speed gearbox in both cars in addition to the standard mix of working steering, suspension and an engine with moving pistons. That they’re based on two of F1’s most popular teams definitely doesn’t hurt, either – but it’s a shame the budget couldn’t stretch to wider rear tyres, even if they are printed.

“Dang, it looks really cool. Max is my favourite driver, but 230 bones is a lot for the size of the build, isn’t it? It would be more understandable if the sponsors were printed. I don’t love applying stickers.

Faithful recreations of two popular F1 teamsInaccurate rear tyres

Our verdict: Look to Speed Champions for an immediate F1 fix, but come back to these when you find them on sale.

LEGO Icons 10353 Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell

LEGO Icons 10353 Williams Racing FW14B Nigel Mansell featured 2 1024x576

Speaking of Formula 1, if you prefer the old days when Williams were at the front of the grid and V-10s still deafened those watching, then LEGO Icons has the set for you: 10353 Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell. Built in the same style as last year's 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna – but with some notable improvements to the wheels and silhouette – the display-focused build pays tribute to the iconic racing career of Nigel Mansell, immortalised in LEGO alongside his Williams car.

Coming complete with its own display stand and quote plaque, out of all the LEGO Formula 1 sets released this year, 10353 Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell is perhaps the most geared towards casual adult fans. if you're a Formula 1 fan and you're not sure where to start with the collaboration, the LEGO Icons set delivers an approachable build, a conversation-starting display piece, and an authentic representation of an iconic car – all for a relatively affordable price at £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99.

“I’m not even mad that they made mistakes with [10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna] anymore since it proves that they actually learnt from mistakes and are making these great sets now.”

LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 wave

LEGO Speed Champions March 2025 line up featured 1024x576

LEGO Speed Champions is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year with a partnership like no other. All 10 Formula 1 teams get their own Speed Champions car, all releasing for £22.99 / $26.99 / €26.99, packing a surprising amount of detail into each one. While some criticised them for essentially being recolours of the same car, there's actually a lot that's different when you get down to building them.

However, that also means that some are better than others. For example, the colour is way off in 77245 Aston Martin Aramco F1 AMR24, which might disappoint fans of the team. Some Formula 1 fans will be tempted to buy the full range and you'll certainly get a kick out of comparing them all, especially if you're a motorsports fan. However, we expect many will pick their favourite team to display just one Speed Champions car – and there's enough detail in each one to satisfy you.

“If you want a complete set but are worried about being bored building and displaying 10 recolours of the same car, rest assured that this won’t be the case.”

Brick Fanatics
Pros of the LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 waveCons of the LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 wave
Surprising amount of detail for the size......but not every car nails it
Far from just recolours of the same car
An impressive feat to debut all 10 teams

Our verdict: Don't let the naysayers sway you: there's something unique about each car, but not all of them are made equal.

LEGO Disney 43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House

lego disney 43268 lilo stitch beach house lifestyle 2 featured 1024x576

43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House finally delivers a detailed build based on the beloved animated show, Lilo and Stitch. While we've had BrickHeadz and even a buildable Stitch, 43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House expands the scope to include minifigures of a variety of characters and a house large and detailed enough to work for both play and display.

While there is a strong minifigure line-up, there are two alien-shaped holes in the form of Pleakley and Jumba that you can't help but miss. They were such a central part of the show, they've even been immortalised as a printed poster in the interior, but 43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House would be all the better if they were included from the off. Nonetheless, the level of detail elsewhere makes it well worth the price of £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99.

“43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House does the animated version justice and there's a plethora of vibrant colours. The interior feels very lived-in, doesn't feel too compact, and packs in a lot of details.”

Just2Good

A must-have for Lilo and Stitch fansWhere are Pleakley and Jumba?!
An impressive amount of detail without feeling crowded

Our verdict: Despite two missing characters, 43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House gets a hearty endorsement for fans of the show.

LEGO Disney 43272 Heihei

LEGO Disney 43272 Heihei review 8 1024x683

43272 Heihei is a surprisingly impressive build, one that captures the clumsy lovableness of the original characters but also simply delivers a colourful, engaging LEGO set even for those who've never seen Moana. The compact build manages to deliver some creative building techniques, even with just 566 pieces, rounded off with an impressive display model that will liven up any shelf or desktop.

The main build is also self-sufficient without its display stand, meaning it can become an exquisitely detailed bird build - albeit with quite a wide-eyed gaze. Moana fan or no, the affordable price tag of £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 makes this an easy day-one recommendation.

“This build is probably one of my favourite character builds done by the Disney team. His build isn’t over impeding into a space, it’s a perfect desk ornament, and it’s executed to perfection. Top tier!”

Brick Banter
Pros of 43272 HeiheiCons of 43272 Heihei
Fascinating build techniquesNo notes! A day-one recommendation
Fantastic level of detail
Affordable price – especially for such an engaging build

Our verdict: A surprise superstar from this LEGO Disney wave, for both Moana fans and not.

LEGO Architecture 21062 Trevi Fountain

lego architecture 21062 trevi fountain lifestyle 2 featured 1024x576

The second brick-built version of the iconic Italian location released to date, 21062 Trevi Fountain will undoubtedly prove to be a must-have set for many LEGO Architecture fans. Priced at £139.99 / $159.99 / €159.99 for 1,880 pieces, the build represents an impressively detailed version of the tourist landmark, one that accurately recreates the façade of the Palazzo Poli.

From statues of Oceanous in his shell chariot and Abundance and Health in minifigure form to hippocampi and Tritons in the water and the small Lovers Fountain, the LEGO Architecture set revels in its historical and mythological sources. Sat on a black base with a printed nameplate, 21062 Trevi Fountain should prove to be an impressive display piece for those with a love for its fascinating subject matter.

“The final model is larger than I imagined. I'll admit that I am not a huge fan of light nougat used for architectural builds, but it actually works well in this set. The rationale for using more colours to give depth, highlight shadows and erosion is reasonable and I think it has been utilised effectively here.”

New Elementary
Pros of 21062 Trevi FountainCons of 21062 Trevi Fountain
Faithful to its original source materialNot much of an upgrade on the previous version
Includes new moulds and recoloursBack of the model is lacking any detail
More accurate than 21020 Trevi FountainOther LEGO Architecture sets offer more bang for your buck

Our verdict: Worth picking up if you don’t already own 21020 Trevi Fountain, otherwise not a massive upgrade.

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 31170 Wild Animals: Pink Flamingo

31170 Lifestyle Cons2 en gb 1024x576

Many LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets can often be a bit of a double (or triple) edged sword. On the one hand, you’re looking at three different builds for a very reasonable price but on the other, you can only make and display one of each model at a time. The good news is there’s always the option to pick up multiple versions of the same build though and you won’t break the bank if you choose to do so.

Those same comments also apply to 31170 Wild Animals: Pink Flamingo, which offers up brightly-coloured recreations of the long-necked exotic bird, along with alternate pink cockatoo and pink axolotl models. Coming in at £19.99 / $24.99 / €24.99 for 266 pieces, the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 set should prove to be a welcome and affordable addition to most builders’ collections, one that has more than enough variety and a low cost of entry.

“The flamingo impresses with its detailed face, feather-like textures, and a colourful base. The axolotl features clever gill and mouth designs, while the cockatoo stands out with its striking colours. Priced fairly for its piece count, this set delivers charming and well-crafted models with excellent variety.

LEGO 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure

LEGO 40819 Up Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure 2 1024x1024

Following in the brick-built footsteps of 40504 A Minifigure Tribute and 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure, comes yet another larger than life character. 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure includes 694 pieces for £46.99 / $54.99 / €54.99 and loosely ties in with this year’s raft of LEGO F1-themed sets, despite its Octan branding.

Standing over 25cm tall, the LEGO model boasts a moveable head, arms, wrists and legs, allowing for the same degree of poseability as standard scale minifigures. 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure also boasts a buildable Easter eggs tucked away under its bright red helmet, but we’ll leave that for you to discover once you’ve assembled the upcoming build…

“Odd choice. Is this recreating an actual minifig? I think what looks off to me is that the decorations are too small and fiddly, they’re not really upscaled enough. I can’t believe I’m finally one of the people saying this, but I really think this is one case where the Classic Space/Pirates/Castle themes would be the best choice. The upscaled minifigures seem like they’d appeal to adults more than kids.”

Pros of 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver MinifigureCons of 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure
Impressive display pieceNot an accurate recreation of a minifigure
Easter egg hidden inside helmetShould have been an official LEGO Formula 1 set

Our verdict: Possibly not the best choice for an upscaled set and one that loses some of its accuracy at this enlarged size.

LEGO Icons 10362 French Café

LEGO Icons 10362 French Cafe featured 3 1024x576

The LEGO Icons team should certainly be applauded for attempting something new when it comes to 10362 French Café. Priced at £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 for 1,101 pieces, what you’re looking at here is essentially a brick-built façade, one that would appear to be spawning an intriguing subtheme of similar upcoming releases.

Although 10362 French Café is bursting with details and incorporates a number of interesting building techniques, it’s also a slight head-scratcher of a release. The set isn’t based on any existing LEGO Modular Buildings Collection releases, nor is it minifigure-scale. Instead, you’re looking at a model that tries to straddle both camps and yet doesn’t really deliver enough of either to justify it as an essential purchase.

“Surprisingly wonderful to build but quite weird in scale and, when you think about it, as a LEGO set in general. Kudos for trying something new, and we recommend if you get the chance to try it out, but we can’t see this being the best direction for an entire new series. The shadow of modular buildings continues to loom large.”

Brick Fanatics
Pros of 10362 French CaféCons of 10362 French Café
The start of a new LEGO Icons subthemeLooks more like a GWP
Could appeal to fans of the Modular Buildings CollectionNo interior to assemble
Incorporates some interesting building techniques

Our verdict: More of a novelty build than anything, the LEGO Icons set is a bold attempt at something new, but one that doesn’t quite manage to succeed.

LEGO Ideas 21355 The Evolution of STEM

LEGO Ideas 21355 The Evolution of STEM featured image 1024x576

LEGO Ideas is leaning heavily into STEM and celebrating all fields of education with 21355 The Evolution of STEM, inspired by Daniel Bradley’s contest-winning submission. With several upgrades, including some exclusive minifigures, this LEGO Ideas set is more affordable than most entries in the theme and is well worth your consideration next month.

21355 The Evolution of STEM comes in at £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 for 879 pieces and three minifigures. Considering that most LEGO Ideas sets are on the expensive side, these low-price fan-inspired sets are a welcome sight, especially when they have as varied but thematically cohesive designs as 21355 The Evolution of STEM. Whether you’re into STEM or not, everyone can appreciate that this set celebrates amazing human advancements.

“The medium of LEGO is a wonderful way to introduce these ideas to younger builders with each mini-build providing a new learning point. The
model crams a lot in to a relatively small space so there's a wealth of knowledge to discover. This would be a great set to build with a child or to give to one for STEM aspirations.”

LEGO Minecraft 21272 Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring

lego minecraft movie 21272 woodland mansion fighting ring lifestyle featured 1024x576

LEGO Minecraft finally has a Woodland Mansion, though it’s nearly as complete as you might have been expecting. The smallest of the two A Minecraft Movie models stands out in the theme for its unique, interactive concept and many exclusive figures to collect. Despite its initial appearance, there are few familiar aspects in 21272 Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring with differences from the giant chicken to the normal, rounded minifigures.

A Minecraft Movie looks to be a unique cinematic experience, and it has finally offered the LEGO Minecraft design team the perfect excuse to explore the massive Woodland Mansions. Unfortunately, the 491-piece model offers but a slice of the expansive structures, thankfully with an unusually interactive play experience for theme to offset the size.

“I know a lot people were excited to get a Woodland Mansion, which we’ve never had before, but this isn’t a Woodland Mansion. You’re still not getting that with this set.

Just2Good

LEGO NINJAGO 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops

LEGO NINJAGO 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops featured 1024x576

The fifth LEGO NINJAGO City set is nearly here with 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops turning its focus towards one of the core concepts of the theme – mechs. After a comparatively normal mix of facilities, services and housing for minifigures, 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops expands on the multi-level metropolis with a mech parts warehouse, mech building bay, mech model shop and much more across three levels.

This mech-centric nature makes LEGO NINJAGO 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops stand out from the other four NINJAGO City sets, of which only one other is currently available. It also means that the build is much more open and smaller than any other set – but has been priced accordingly. A cast of 10 minifigures populate the 3,244-piece structure, serving as a good starting point or continuation of a NINJAGO City display.

“If I ranked the five NINJAGO City builds, 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops would likely fall to the bottom. That’s not to say that this is a bad set – on the contrary, this is a very worthy entry into the series, it just has the misfortune of following in some very big footsteps.”

Our verdict: A worthy entry that collectors of LEGO NINJAGO City sets will surely pick up day one.

LEGO Technic 42204 Fast & Furious Toyota Supra MK4

LEGO Technic 42204 Fast and Furious Toyota Supra MK4 2 1024x767

The next LEGO Fast & Furious set – and rumoured to be one of two coming in 2025 – is here in the form of 42204 Fast & Furious Toyota Supra MK4. The 810-piece set is based on the car driven by Brian O'Conner in the original film, with its signature orange paint job and green livery to boot.

The new LEGO Fast & Furious Technic model is at the same scale as many other recent Technic cars complete with steering, a bonnet, doors and boot that can all open realistically. For £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99, it’s a nostalgic movie model to consider this March.

“This looks off somehow. The front lights remind me of Venom, and the wheels / wheelbase looks too thin in comparison to the cars body width.”
