LEGO Marvel 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle isn’t the first set to visit that location

The upcoming LEGO Marvel 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle isn’t the first time the Statue of Liberty head location has been featured in a set.

A mighty four new LEGO Marvel sets received a surprise reveal last week in the shape of 76249 Venomised Groot, 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle, 76263 Iron Man Hulkbuster vs. Thanos and 76266 Endgame Final Battle. The models will all be dropping on August 1 and feature a variety of MCU, comic book and original builds.

Fans of a certain web-slinging wonder have been clamouring for more sets based on Spider-Man: No Way Home and it seems as if the LEGO Group has been listening. 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle recreates the action-packed climax of the movie, with the 900-piece build based around the Statue of Liberty’s head surrounded by scaffolding.

While this version of the famous New York landmark is primarily constructed from nougat-coloured elements, it’s not the first such LEGO set to recreate the statue’s iconic visage. In 2019 we saw the release of 70840 Welcome to Apocalypsburg!, a massive 3,107-piece model spinning out of The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.

The huge build represents the central Bricksburg location in the film, with the Statue of Liberty’s upper torso, head and torch-holding arm all comprised of sand green elements. Although 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle is a much smaller set (at 900 pieces) and only offers up the head of the landmark, there’s still plenty going on in the LEGO Marvel model.

The 360-degree set includes a removable roof that reveals Sandman’s hand, flip-open rear access to a portal to the Sanctum Sanctorum and nine must-have minifigures. 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle will be released on August 1, priced at £94.99 / $109.99 / €104.99.
