LEGO has officially revealed its wave of Chinese New Year sets for 2025 at CIIE 2024 in Shanghai, with a number of sets to celebrate the Year of the Snake.
Five LEGO sets thought to be coming in 2025 were officially revealed at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), including three Chinese New Year sets to celebrate the Year of the Snake and two new LEGO Monkie Kid sets. Thanks to Chinese LEGO fan media MOCOZONE and BricksJoy Fun, we've got the first images of the newly revealed sets.
Details on prices and release dates are not confirmed yet but should be soon once the LEGO Group has its own listings up on LEGO.com. For now, here are all the details we know so far.
80116 Trotting Lantern
Price: TBC Pieces: 1,295 Release date: TBC
The largest LEGO Chinese New Year set is 80116 Trotting Lantern, featuring a red and gold build that doubles as a Chinese lantern, with opening sections to reveal a vibrant interior. It comes with five minifigures, including one designed to look like a Chinese Zodiac Year of the Snake minifigure.
80117 Good Fortune
Price: TBC Pieces: 1,021 Release date: TBC
Next up is 80117 Good Fortune, bringing various symbols of good luck in Chinese culture to life, including a traditional fan, mandarin, gold ingots and coins, calligraphy, and an ornate ceramic vase. Judging from the lifestyle photos, the objects look almost to scale and have plenty of vibrant details packed into the 1,021 pieces.
40813 Lucky Cat
Price: TBC Pieces: 280 Release date: TBC
A smaller offering for LEGO Chinese New Year, with a set number that could suggest it's set to be a GWP, 40813 Lucky Cat is a brick-built version of a nodding lucky cat, with one arm posed as if it's 'waving'. It comes with what appear to be printed face elements, along with some creative whisker elements.
80065 Erlang’s Celestial Mech
Price: TBC Pieces: 806 Release date: TBC
Also revealed at CIIE were two LEGO Monkie Kid sets, including a towering mech of over 800 pieces in the form of 80065 Erlang’s Celestial Mech. With five minifigures included as well, the mech has a long staff and a black cape that looks to be made of some kind of fabric.
80066 Mythical Creature Qilin
Price: TBC Pieces: 791 Release date: TBC
Last but not least, 80066 Mythical Creature Qilin brings together various mythical creature imagery, with a head that looks like a Chinese dragon, the body of a fantastical lion, and flames coming from its feet and legs, matching the gold and turquoise armour covering its body. There are also five minifigures included in this 791-piece LEGO Monkie Kid set.
