LEGO NINJAGO's first 2026 anniversary sets are a hit

LEGO NINJAGO's 15th anniversary is off to a great start, with two-thirds of the range almost out of stock worldwide, forecasting success in March.

Just days after LEGO NINJAGO's new anniversary sets were released, all but the most expensive one are now unavailable, nearly worldwide. Three 15th anniversary builds were launched in the form of 71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith, 71861 The Old Town and 71866 Ninja Character Display. These cover a wide variety of price points, with 71861 The Old Town being the most expensive.

As of January 3, 2026, both 71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith and 71866 Ninja Character Display are temporarily out of stock almost worldwide, with only 71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith only available on back order in the US.

It's a good sign for the LEGO Group going into this anniversary year, though fans of the theme are currently going to struggle to celebrate 15 years of NINJAGO with any new sets, unless they opt for the £269.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 71861 The Old Town. We don't know when the other two sets will be restocked around the world, and it's worth noting that the NINJAGO 2026 sets based on the upcoming season are not facing such stock issues at the time of writing.

For now, this can serve as a warning ahead of March 2026. The next LEGO NINJAGO wave to be released includes another anniversary model, 71860 Lloyd's Titan Mech, and given that this model is also far more affordable than 71861 The Old Town, it seems likely that it will also be a hit with LEGO enthusiasts worldwide and quickly sell out.

Anyone still hoping to pick the two sold-out anniversary sets sooner rather than later can at least find 71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith on Amazon UK, but with delivery from early February at the time of writing. 71866 Ninja Character Display is similarly sold out at most third-party retailers, but will be back in stock eventually, as its current retirement date is not until 2027.

Explaining the perceived success of these anniversary models may be down to a mix of nostalgia for stories told over a decade ago, and fans who now have disposable income. That's as well as the passion from the LEGO designers that shows through the various Easter eggs.

"It was a very different design experience from making your own stuff," said designer Lee Chi Wing in an interview with DuckBricks. "This almost feels like working on an IP set because you have existing source material."

Whatever the case may be, these two LEGO NINJAGO sets are proving harder to find than most 2026 releases, just in case you needed another excuse to pre-order 71860 Lloyd's Titan Mech in advance.
