LEGO Pick a Brick to trial minifigure maker in one region

Following the news of new parts with a major delay, the LEGO Pick a Brick team has confirmed some exciting upgrades coming in the future.

New Elementary attended a panel at Bricktastic in Manchester this weekend, where the Pick a Brick team were in attendance to reveal the June 2025 parts – which we discussed here – as well as showcase the exciting features coming to the service.

The team discussed three major upgrades for the platform, one of which will go on trial in the UK in the future. The first of these changes, and arguably the most useful, is that parts will now be grouped by colour on listings when a part has multiple colours on the service.

This means that you won't need to scroll through a large list of pieces to find that element in the ideal colour anymore, or at least once this change goes live. Images provided by New Elementary detail how this might look, but keep in mind that all images are preliminary and taken from the panel. The layout may change before these changes launch.

Also showcased during the panel was a new search system which will seemingly assign tags to pieces to make it easier to find them on the surface. Examples provided detail that searching for orange legs will bring up all orange-coloured leg elements for minifigures and mini-dolls instead of parts that have orange and legs in their name – which currently would result in nothing.

It would be an innovative addition to the platform and one that would take a considerable amount of effort to implement, though it may be worthwhile for how much it would improve the user experience in the long term.

Rounding out the reveals is the most exciting upgrade to Pick a Brick – a minifigure creator. Similar to the Minifigure Factory that exists on LEGO.com in the US and Canada, Pick a Brick will trial its own minifigure maker in the UK in the future, using parts available on the service.

Images shared by the team at the event detail that up to 40 minifigures can be made per order, with the option to easily duplicate specific minifigures. That latter feature will be perfect for army-building if the parts you need are available on the service. It would appear that minifigures made using this feature can have a head, torso, legs, headwear and a single accessory.

The team confirmed that this will be going on trial in the UK but did not have a specific date to share. We'll keep you updated as soon as we find out when the trial starts. While you wait, click here to see what parts are coming to the service next and why they've been delayed until June 2025.
