More rumoured details for the LEGO Pokémon 2026 sets are swirling, changing the ethos from what the game originally laid out.
In all but Pokémon Yellow, the first steps of any new Trainer's journey are the same: picking your starter Pokémon. Whatever professor is guiding you on your journey will present you with three options, offering the chance to train up a Pokémon from a different Type.
With the LEGO Group starting its own Pokémon journey in 2026, it might not be following the same route, however. Instead of needing to pick between the three original Gen 1 starter Pokémon (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle), you'll seemingly be able to 'catch' all three – at a cost of $650, of course.
That's according to the latest rumours and should be taken with the usual pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group. If true though, 72153 Bulbasaur, Squirtle & Charmander sets a new path for fans of the game, one closer to the LEGO ethos of filling up display shelves than the Pokémon one of choosing your favourite.
Although Pokémon is all about catching them all, that usually happens slowly, gradually exploring the world and building up your Pokémon team one by one. In the world of LEGO collecting, it seems you'll be able to score all three starters at the same time for one quick display collection.
Admittedly, it won't be for everyone. The rumoured price for 72153 Bulbasaur, Squirtle & Charmander is $649.99 in the US for 6,838 pieces, making it far from cheap. For those who simply need brick-built Pokémon in their lives, it would break down to around $216 per Pokémon, with just over 2,200 pieces for each creature. That would put them around the size of LEGO Super Mario 71411 The Mighty Bowser, which sits at 2,807 pieces including the brick-built stand and accessories.
Thankfully, the $650 set is said to not be the only way to start your LEGO Pokémon collection. The same rumours claim that there will be a total of 20 new LEGO Pokémon sets in 2026, along with an additional eight models that could be either BrickHeadz or promotional sets. Fingers crossed there will be something to please everyone, no matter their budget (or starter Pokémon preferences).
