LEGO Ideas 21355 The Evolution of Stem features the usual fun personal references to its fan designer – as well as the biggest diva ever to work on a set.
Every LEGO Ideas set contains little nods to the fan designer and what's important to them. For some, that's their own initials, the initials of family members, or important dates from their lives. For Daniel Bradley, the fan designer of 21355 The Evolution of Stem, there are a couple to notice throughout the 879-piece build, starting with the letters 'T' and 'G' under the desk.
"The reference is a nod to my brother, as we're very close and those are his initials," explained Daniel in a roundtable with LEGO Fan Media, with a smile. "I know when I chose my references as a fan designer, what was most important to me obviously was my cat – but I guess my brother comes just below that."

Zeus the cat has a more literal moment in the set, appearing as the face of Meow Kits, blown up on a miniature billboard in the cityscape builds. Later, LEGO Ideas Design Lead Jordan Scott quipped that Zeus the cat was the toughest critic to impress.
"There was one expert that we had to talk to about one very specific detail on the set – and that was Zeus the cat," he said. "For his little easter egg, we had to consult with him and get his approval."
"He's definitely the hardest IP partner I've ever worked with, more than Disney, more than Warner Bros.," added Jordan. "He set a really high bar."
"He's a bit of a diva," agreed Daniel, fan designer and Zeus caregiver. 'But it's worth the hard work with him."
21355 The Evolution of STEM will be available to buy from March 1 for £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99. Check out our in-depth review here.
