LEGO Shadow the Hedgehog is here to remind you about Sonic 3

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hits cinemas worldwide this week and LEGO Shadow the Hedgehog wants to remind fans who the real star of the movie is.

Speeding into view two years after the last entry in the film series, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be blasting onto cinema screens on December 20. The upcoming movie sequel sees Sonic, Tails and Knuckles teaming up once again to tackle the duel challenge of Dr. Robotnik and his long-lost grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, plus a mysterious new foe, Shadow the Hedgehog (voiced by Keanu Reeves).

To promote the imminent release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Paramount Pictures has been slowly drip-feeding fans a series of parody movie posters over the past few weeks, based on such festive films as Home Alone,  Scrooged, The Grinch, Christmas Vacation, Die Hard and more.

Now it’s the turn of one of Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s own posters to be parodied, with a LEGO version of Shadow the Hedgehog skidding into view on his motorcycle. The exact same minifigure and vehicle are also included in 76995 Shadow the Hedgehog Escape, one of three current LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog models featuring the character.

If Sonic the Hedgehog 3 proves to be another big hit and Shadow the Hedgehog becomes a breakout star, fans could be scrabbling to pick up LEGO sets based on the character.

It’s worth noting that 76995 Shadow the Hedgehog Escape is due to retire next year, as is 77000 Shadow the Hedgehog, a 720-piece version of the Ultimate Lifeform complete with sturdy display stand, nameplate and hidden Easter eggs.

Fans looking to pick up 77000 Shadow the Hedgehog ahead of Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s arrival can still do so, although the model is currently on back order in the UK, but in stock in the US and Europe at the time of this writing. It’s worth noting that a third build featuring the blue blur’s adversary, 40672 Sonic the Hedgehog: Knuckles & Shadow, is showing as being out of stock in the UK and US.

More LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets may well follow suit and vanish off shelves once Sonic the Hedgehog 3 races into cinemas on December 20, so you might need to be quick if you want to grab them all.
