This LEGO Star Wars alternative build was inevitable

LEGO Star Wars fans have been eyeing up a particular midi-scale ship with a rebuild in mind – and someone finally did it.

From the first time you saw 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship, you were probably thinking, 'that looks like it would make a good Venator.' The grey and red colour scheme lines up perfectly with the ship and, while the Acclamator has its own quirks and aesthetic, those who want a midi-scale Venator finally have the answer.

Less than two weeks after 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship, Wurger Bricks has done what we've all been asking for and rebuilt 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship into a midi-scale Venator, sharing pictures and instructions on Rebrickable.

It only uses pieces from 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship (including some of the spares) and sits on the same display stand, so it will fit in smoothly next to other midi-scale ships you might have. The designer acknowledges that this is "a stubby version of the Venator" but it's still an impressive version of the iconic ship.

"I wanted to make the front wedge longer and the back wedge narrower but was hampered by the limitation of the pieces available, it's very important for me that the model be sturdy and swoosh-able and use all of the printed tiles," they wrote.

If you want to try this out for yourself, you can buy the instructions on Rebrickable for $6.99 and 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship for £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99. As one of the cheaper midi-scale ships, you could even convince yourself to buy two copies and display both ships.
